Paris Olympics 2024: Lashay Sen Loses Out To Axelson But Bronze Medal Hopes Still Alive, Details Here

The semifinal round at the Paris Olympics 2024 was a loss for Lakshay Sen, although he will still fight for the bronze medal.

On Sunday, Lakshya Sen lost the men's singles semifinal to Denmark's defending Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen 20-22, 14-21. On Monday, Lakshya will play Malaysian Lee Zii Jia for the bronze medal.

Axelsen faces Thai Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the final. Lakshya led 11-9 at halftime in the first game. The drift in the arena contributed to long, furious rallies between the two players.

It periodically disturbed Axelsen's precision, helping Lakshya compete. Despite Lakshya's savvy play, Axelsen tried to get her to smash hard.

Lakshya took a 7-0 lead in the second game, but Axelsen rallied to tie it at 10-10. Lakshya led 11-10 at halftime.

Lakshya couldn't resist the attack, and Axelsen won 21-14. Axelsen's win qualified him for his second straight Olympic singles final against Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand.
