SSDI benefits are money that the US federal government gives to people who live in the US and have certain conditions or illnesses that make it hard for them to work and make a living. US citizens who are qualified will get their next payment in June 2024. Let’s look at when your SSDI payment schedule is, who is eligible, and other important information.
SSDI Payment Schedule 2024
With the cost of living going up, the Social Security Administration helps retirees, disabled people, and older people by giving them money through different SSA perks.
The cash aid helps them pay for their daily needs so they can live a healthy life. People who are injured and can’t work because of their illness or disability can get Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) from the Social Security Administration (SSA). This helps them pay for the extra costs that come with their disability.
Based on their birth date, the SSA usually gives benefits on the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of each month. Based on birth dates, here is how much money you will get from SSA:
- People who get SSDI and were born between January 1 and October 10 will get their payment on the second Wednesday of every month.
- People who were born between the 11th and 20th of the month would get their SSDI payments on the third Wednesday of each month.
- People who were born between the 21st and 31st of the month would get their SSDI payments on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
Remember that people who got Social Security before May 1997 will get their payment on the third of every month. If you get SSDI benefits based on someone else’s record, like your spouse’s, you will get payments based on the date they were born.
The people who get SSDI may have already gotten their May payments on the dates that were set by their birth dates.

Who qualifies for the SSDI payment?
When the following conditions are met, the US government helps eligible US people with SSDI benefits:
- You live in the US permanently and are a citizen of the US.
- Because you are blind, you have a disability or special situation that makes it hard for you to work and make money.
- You’ve worked in the United States for at least five of the last ten years.
- Proof of disability from a doctor or nurse that is accepted by the government.
People whose families receive SSDI can also get family benefits through the SSA. This means that the government can help them financially.
How much will you receive through SSDI payments?
The monthly payouts from SSDI depend on the following things before you get them in your bank account or the way you choose:
- Work History before your disability began
- Medicare payment
The US government raised the COLA to 3.2% in April 2024. This meant that people receiving SSDI would get more than $50 more in Social Security income.
In 2023, the highest monthly payment that SSDI recipients got was $3,822. This means that payouts will be higher in 2024.
If the eligible people are also eligible for SSI, they will be able to get the $943 for 2024.
The last payment can be different for each person based on the things listed above.
