This year, Arkansas’s tax-free weekend is on Saturday, August 3, 2024, and Sunday, August 4, 2024. Now, families don’t have to worry about taxes when they buy school supplies, clothes, and other things that have to do with school.

 

Arkansas Tax-Free Weekend 2024

During a tax-free holiday, some states don’t charge sales tax on certain types of goods. Most of the time, the tax-free benefits are only good for one weekend, but sometimes they last for a lot longer. Arkansas had a tax-free weekend every year on the first weekend of August.

From 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2023, until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2024, there will be no sales tax in the state of Arkansas. This lets people buy certain electronics, clothes, school supplies, art supplies, and teaching materials without having to pay any sales or use taxes in their state or locality.

What are the eligible items for Arkansas Tax-Free Weekend 2024?

  • Electronic Device: An electronic item commonly used by a student in a course of study such as a calculator, computer mouse, keyboard, monitor, tablet, printer, etc.
  • School Supply: School supplies are defined as items that are frequently utilized by students in their course of study. Items such as binders, book bags, notebooks, blackboards, chalk, crayons, erasers, lunch boxes, etc. are exempt from the holiday requirement.
  • School Art Supply: An item commonly used by a student in a course of study for artwork. Some school art supplies that are eligible for the holiday exemption are Clay and glazes, Paints, Paintbrushes for artwork, drawing pads, Watercolors, etc.
  • School Instructional Material: Written materials that students frequently use as a reference and to learn the topic being taught in class are referred to as school instructional materials. Reference books, reference maps, reference globes, textbooks, workbooks, and other educational resources are among the items that qualify for the holiday exemption.

Are there any exceptions or exclusions during this weekend?
